NBFC to field two women’s teams in 2019

8 Mar 2019 by Jess Ashcroft

On International Women’s Day, the North Brunswick Football Club is excited to announce that we will be fielding both a Seniors and a Reserves women’s team in the VAFA competition. The women join our three senior men’s teams in what promises to be an exciting year, both on and off the field.

After commencing training in September, we have seen a core group of women continue to grow, making two teams a reality in our very first season. With a recruitment drive lead by Jess Ashcroft and Frankie Freeman and our senior men’s captains Peter Butler and Matt David, we continue to welcome new players to our North Brunswick family.

Senior women’s coach Bernie Maginnes has been putting the girls through their paces, and has seen continuous development of fitness, skills and friendships whilst off field the social vibe is fantastic, with bar sales at an all time high and extra snags (and tofu burgers) purchased for the free Thursday night bbq.

With two women’s sides we can guarantee game time for all players and a social, inclusive and welcoming local footy environment.

Anyone keen in getting involved please get in touch or come along to a training session.. Women’s training is Mondays and Thursdays from 6.30pm. Mens training is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30pm. Volunteers and players of all abilities welcome.

Regards

Trevor Ackland
NBFC President
